Larry Dougherty is an antiquarian horologist whose passion for antique timepieces began as a young man working in the family clock and watch business. Deep interest led him to Switzerland where he spent a year studing watchmaking at the Technicum Neuchatelois in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

The next year was spent in England at West Dean College in Sussex where he received a diploma in the Restoration of Antique Clocks. Following graduation, he took the exams of the British Horological Institute and was awarded the Arthur Tremayne Memorial Prize.

Returning to California, he served as the clock consultant to Sotheby's in Los Angeles and opened his own horological workshop.

For the past 30 years, he has sold, restored, and appraised high grade antique clocks as well as dealt in period furniture and accessories. Examples from many of the great makers have passed through his hands including Thomas Mudge, George Graham,  Joseph and Samuel Knibb, as well as many others by less well known makers.

Larry has a special interest in Irish timekeepers, having spent a decade of his career in Ireland.

We have a small selection of interesting French, Irish, and British clocks and barometers from the 17th through 19th century available for sale in either "as found" or fully restored condition. We are happy to deal with collectors as well as designers and dealers. Local and international inquiries are welcomed. Viewing by appointment.

We undertake sympathetic restoration of period antique clocks. Our services include overhaul as well as the hand making of missing or damaged parts.
